Thanks to the wonderful powers of the internet, metal bands are forming all over the globe. One such nation where bands are starting to crop up is Morocco. Unfortunately, they haven't really mastered the craft. Don't get me wrong, they're trying real hard, but they've got a long way ahead of them before they can make something great. A Cold Demise is trying to make something great, but they haven't reached it yet.
The intro consists of these keyboards playing a simple melody that have a layer of distortion on them to make them sound like guitars, which I find rather strange. They eventually transition into a cleaner sound. It's a rather boring track if you ask me.
The next song, “Tribulation”, is more straightforward depressive black metal, although it's played rather simply. It's only two minutes in length, but it feels like it drones on and on.
“Man Without Grief is Just A Human Memory” focuses back on the keyboards. The melody sounds promising, but the song is meandering and without a point.
“Beyond Salvation” has more traditional sounding keys accompanied by strange sounding keys and a rather simplistically programmed drum machine. I'm rather annoyed by the Gollum vocals. He sounds worse than Alexandr Tantsyrev.
“Farewell” confuses and scares the shit out of me. It starts off with these unearthly, unholy squeaking noises, like the cross between a squeaky toy and a dying child. Then we get keyboards, drum machine, and guitars. They play for about a minute before they abruptly cut out, leaving us with more of those horrid squeaking noises.
The outro is your run of the mill acoustic piece. Not much to see here.
Restless Soul was promising, but it was plagued by bad idea after bad idea. Ditch the keyboards and ambient sounds and try to play some actual black metal, will ya?
