It's election day and I'm not going to vote for two reasons:
1. I live in Kansas. Need I say more?
2. No matter who wins, we're still going to get the same horrible shit we've been getting since time immemorial. George Carlin sums this up nicely.
You might call me unpatriotic for not fulfilling my "civic duty", but I don't give a shit. I'm only here to write about metal. Speaking of which, here's this week's Bandcamp Roundup!
Seventh Sage - Surprise Buttsecks (Metal Version)
One of my favorite non-metal songs is "Surprise Buttsecks". If you haven't listened to it yet, then you're missing out. Due to the massive popularity of the song, it wouldn't be long before remixes were made of it. Since you don't really find a lot of metal remixes of songs, Seventh Sage decided to fill in that void by recording their own metal version. And it is glorious. I especially love the lead guitar at the halfway point. It sort of reminds me of Oskoreien.
Sulphurous
Sulphurous does not fuck around. They have emerged from the fetid sewers of Copenhagen and they play dirty, nasty, and evil blackened death metal that will ravage those fools on the surface. For me, that's "love at first sight" material. Expect a more detailed review of this demo in the future.
The Gentle Art Of Chokin'
Let's finish things off with some grindcore, shall we? The Gentle Art Of Chokin' is violent and unrelenting just like every other grindcore band, but they do something amazing by managing to stuff a great deal of sweet riffs into a short amount of time. They even throw in a few wicked breakdowns for good measure.
