There are two bands named Erevos and both are from Greece. However, one Erevos plays blackened doom metal. The one we're reviewing today plays melodic black metal.
My feelings on this album are kind of mixed. I love some of the riffs as they're full of color and vibrancy, but other riffs don't hold my attention at all. Same goes with the drums. Sometimes they pull off some really great tricks, but other times they're just sort of there. Also, the production is quite clean, which means the drums and the guitars sound quite sterile. The rasps sound pretty average. Not good, not bad, just average. Same goes with the growls that occasionally show up. They also include some symphonic elements, but they're the same symphonic elements that most other symphonic black metal bands use. They just sound so derivative. The only part that interested me was near the end of the last song, as they included a bit of jazz piano and bass.
Overall, there are some good bits on here, but it doesn't really hold my attention. It's just another average release awash in an ocean of average releases. They're no Screaming Savior, that's for sure.
