Temple Of Void is a brand new doom/death band that has arisen from the dark depths of Detroit. Their demo was available as a name-your-price download, and since I'm a sucker for free stuff, I decided to download it. I'm glad I did, because this shit's awesome.
The production is rich and crushing. Every riff can be heard in all its grandeur. Every strike of the drum kit is clear and concise and there's no sign of clipping. I'll give 'em extra points for that. Speaking of drums, they'll pummel you with their slow and steady strikes, with occasional changes in tempo to keep things interesting. The vocals consist of a hoarse growl which sort of remind me of Forest of Shadows. They express a great deal of anger and frustration, and his vocal style fits in quite well with the kind of music being played.
Of course, my favorite elements of this demo were the guitars. The riffs are quite dark, but the tone is also quite melodic. I love this kind of juxtaposition. One minute they're slowly churning out evil riffs, and the next minute they grace your ears with a beautiful solo. This was a fantastic doom/death demo full of excellent clear production, perfectly mixed drums, great vocals, and amazing guitar work, especially near the end of the last song. You can download it for free at their official Bandcamp page. They're also selling a CD version of the demo for three dollars, so if you have some money to spare, throw some their way.
