ReverbNation Spotlight: Wolves' Winter

We now venture from New Zealand to Argentina where we encounter Wolves' Winter, a cold, raw black metal band from sunny Buenos Aires.

The first thing I love about these guys is the production. The guitars sound like they were played through the tiniest amps they could find, which makes them sound reminiscent to what was coming out of Norway during the early 90s. In other words, I love it.

Not only that, but the music itself is highly influenced by Norwegian black metal. The drums are minimalistic, sticking to a constant stream of blast beats. The rasps are cloaked in reverb and sound like the howls of angry spirits. As for the rapid tremolo riffs, they're colder than the abominable snowman's nutsack. They're simple, vicious, and just plain excellent.

These guys might not be reinventing the wheel, but they took a tried and true formula and made something great with it. I hope they release a full-length soon.
