Odium was a short-lived death metal band from Bulgaria that formed in 1995, released only one demo called Requiem of Insanity two years later, and broke up shortly thereafter. I'm not all that familiar with Bulgaria's metal scene, so this will be a rather fresh experience.
The production is rather muffled, but then again, they just recently emerged from an oppressive communist dictatorship, so they didn't exactly have the best recording equipment available. Despite this, the music still manages to be good. The drums play lots of vigorous blast beats that feature a great deal of prominent cymbal work. Most of the rhythms they play are pretty standard stuff for death metal, but it still gets the job done.
The vocals consist of a deep, hoarse growl that's pretty common in the genre, but they're still performed rather well. They also play a few screams to add a bit of diversity. As for the guitars, they're pure crunchy goodness. They play a lot of fast and nasty riffs which have that classic old school tone. Although not very original, they're still played really well and are able to compel you into a headbanging good time.
While the music these guys play is pretty standard, the performance is great, especially in the riff department. I'm glad they didn't try to half-ass it or anything like that.
