Underground News: Metallica, Broken Hope

Metallica to perform in Antarctica

When I first heard about this story, I thought it was some sort of joke, but the band later confirmed that yes, they are going to perform a concert in Antarctica. You can read about it here. They are partnering up with Coke Zero and they will perform near the heliport of the Argentine Antarctic Base Carlini on Sunday, December 8, 2013.

I'm still left with a lot of questions. Are they taking Dethklok too seriously. They do realize that Metalocalypse is just a silly cartoon show and that it shouldn't be emulated, right? Are all the band members going senile? And furthermore, aren't they afraid that one of their fans will get frostbite on their balls down there? I guess I won't really know the answer to any of these questions.

Broken Hope encounters bad luck

The death metal band Broken Hope has been cursed with bad luck. First, some asshole with a box cutter attacked three of their fans at a concert in El Paso, as was confirmed in this Facebook post:

Soon thereafter, Glen Benton of Deicide kicked them off the No Salvation Tour. This was from a Facebook post Broken Hope posted:

Since we started this tour, we’ve had to endure Glen Benton’s constant bitching and ultimatums. He was always trying to snip our balls and demanded that we couldn’t use our fog machines and on some nights, we couldn’t use our backdrops or other production elements because he had issues with all of it. With respect to the headliner, we abided. Moreover, in efforts of friendship, good tour vibes, and because we’re simply cool fucking guys, we let Glen Benton and his band use OUR BACKLINE because they didn’t want to bring all their gear on tour!

You can read the entire story here. I always knew Glen Benton was an asshole, so it's no surprise that he would do something like this. I never liked Broken Hope, but it's unfortunate that they have to go through all of this.

That news story was a downer. Here's something to cheer you up.
