Brutalized – Through the Black Light

Brutalized is yet another obscure death metal band that released only one demo before breaking up. I heard they also released one other demo called Rhyme of Bleeding in 1995, but I can find no evidence of its existence.

This demo is... uh... what the fuck am I listening to? The production is just awful. It's almost as bad as the production on that Internal Haemorrhage demo I reviewed long ago. Everything's too quiet, except for the vocals, that is, and they're just as bad as the production. The vocalist tries out his best Barney Greenway/Glen Benton impersonation and comes off as a cheap parody. I can hardly hear the drums. The most I can make out are the high hat and the snare, and all he does are simple blasts and rhythms. No variety at all. On the rare occasions when the double bass shows up, it sound more like a soft tapping. Some of the riffs are good, but due to the production problems, they are either barely audible or they sound like distorted farts. The only good part about this demo is the bass, as it sounds clear and is played well. Unfortunately, it rarely shows up.

My balls hurt after listening to this. It's not the good pain like that one dream I had where Orin and Okuu from the Touhou series were dressed up in black latex bodysuits and were stepping on my ballsack while telling me how bad of a boy I've been. No, this pain feels more akin to testicular torsion. I'm not gonna bother looking for that other demo Brutalized released. It can go rot in a landfill. For all I know, it probably already is, considering how bad this demo was.
