It got really fucking cold here in Kansas, so this is gonna be an all-black metal edition of Bandcamp Roundup.
Pale Prophet
First up is Pale Prophet from the state of Georgia. They play a dark and nasty mix of black metal and hardcore. The guitars play hardcore riffs through a black metal filter, the drums frequently switch up between black metal and hardcore rhythms, and the vocals consist of both a throaty growl and a hardcore yell. I don't like hardcore, but I'll gladly listen to Pale Prophet any day.
Evergreen Refuge
Up next is Evergreen Refuge, a peaceful one-man ambient black metal/post-rock from Colorado. The clean guitars reflect the beauty of the forests and the distorted guitars reflect the majesty of the mountains. The band describes themselves best: Evergreen Refuge is a journey of solitude and a longing for a refuge from contemporary society.
Vemod
Finally we have Vemod from Trondheim. The brand of black metal they play is long, grand, cloudy, and majestic. The guitars have a great deal of melody to them, especially during the mid-paced parts, and overall, it sort of reminds me of Branikald in certain places.
Verräter
I'd also like to take this time to bring your attention to this amazing new Kansas black metal band I found called Verräter. They're named after the Leviathan release of the same name and they play a raw and nasty brand of black metal that's similar to Sargeist and Judas Iscariot. They don't have a Bandcamp page, but you can find two of their tracks on Reverb Nation.
