Iprit is a raw black metal band from Russia that have so far released three works: their first demo in October 2011, a split with Desolate Age in January 2012, and their second demo in April 2012. Their first demo is only two songs long, so I've chosen to review their second demo instead.
This demo is pure, simple, straight to the point early 90s black metal worship that has a bit of a modern feel. The drums mainly play non-stop blasts with a few fills and some mid-paced beats in between. They're pretty standard but they're well-played nonetheless. The bass is quite high in the mix and helps to flesh out the music. The vocals are a mix between your typical rasp and a growl. The growls add a nice change of pace. The guitar screams old school. They don't have a lot of reverb, and since there's only one guitarist, he works his ass off to create a cold atmosphere. He mainly plays relentless tremolo riffs, but there are times when he breaks into these chugging sessions.
The music Iprit has made here is pretty sweet. They don't go for fancy producing techniques or any of that other stuff that most black metal bands use nowadays, they focus only on creating black metal that can get their point across as simply and quickly as possible.
