Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone: Boris Dzaneck

I love those minimalist tape covers, don't you? The music is also minimal, for Boris Dzaneck plays minimal synth, which can best be described as synthpop but with lo-fi production and dark and moody tones. To be honest, this was the first minimal synth band I listened to, and I quite like it.

The production is lo-fi and sort of fuzzy, and as a sucker for lo-fi shit, I like it. The instrumentation is simple and almost hypnotic in a way. Sometimes the keyboard is the dominant instrument, other times it's the guitar. The music is oftentimes slow, but there are occasions when it picks up the pace, such as on "Dance". By the way, my favorite song from this guy is "Dance". I love the sound of the synthesizer. It sort of sounds like 8-bit music. I also like the guitars on "Me Hero". For some strange reason, they remind me of black metal.

This was my first exposure to minimal synth, and I quite like it. I love the sound of the synthesizer, I like the riffs, and I like the diverse instrumentation, especially those bongo drums on "White Heart".
