ReverbNation Spotlight: Embalsamado

Brazil has long been known for having a great metal scene, and brand new blackened doom metal band Embalsamado continues that fine tradition. They formed just this year and they're already kicking ass.

The production has this gritty old school sound to it. Whereas most death metal is going for cleaner production, the Brazilians still know what's true. They're proud practitioners of the old traditions. The tempo sticks to a moderate pace and has this sludgy, crypt-like feel to it. The drums sound like the restless dead pounding on their coffin lids. The croaked vocals sound like the mad chattering of a grave digger who lost the last vestige of his sanity many years ago. Best of all are the guitars. They have a powerful old school vibe to them and the riffs are quite tasteful. They sound a bit like Black Sabbath in some places.

These guys are amazing. I love their grimy, sludgy sound and I love the mid-paced riffs. I also really like the vocals. They're all sorts of fun. If you like doom metal mixed with your black metal or vice versa, then you're bound to love these guys.
