You gotta appreciate how honest some bands are. Case in point, Gore Instinct. They are a brutal death metal band from Bandung, Indonesia and their first EP is called Invasion Of The Body Slammer. They don't try to conceal what they're all about. They just walk up to you and tell you they're all about the slam.
Since the word “slammer” is in the title, you already know that these guys are all about the slam. The music sticks to a slow and methodical pace with bursts of speed thrown in at certain intervals. The double bass is almost constant. The growls are gruesome and guttural. They also perform these weird frog croaking growls on occasion. The guitars mainly stick to simple chugs with fast shredding showing up once in a while. Overall, the music offers up no surprises. It's just plain slam.
I'm okay with a band playing simple slam if they know it appeals to a certain demographic, but what killed this EP for me were the long audio clips they had to stick in at the beginning of every song. It's like they knew they didn't have much interesting material, so they had to pad it out as much as possible. In other words, they have Mortician syndrome. I guess this also explains the bland and unoriginal music. All in all, I wouldn't recommend these guys. They're not offensively bad or anything, they're just bland and unoriginal.
