Phosphate Exhumation is a slamming brutal death metal band from Russia and this is their first EP. Their logo reminds me of Noise of Silence. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about them.
Their slams are unoriginal and painfully simple. The growls sounds like a mix between a frog croak and a pig squeal and they get on my nerves real easily. The drums mainly stick to playing slow beats with a few blasts and fills randomly thrown in. Also, the double bass sounds like a typewriter. I really hate it when the double bass sounds like a typewriter.
Worst of all are the guitars. All they do is CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG like a Soviet-era train that needs to be put out to pasture. There are also these moments when the band tries to be LOL SO WACKY by adding audio clips that add nothing to the music. They just threw them in there because they thought it would be funny. It's not. It's just annoying.
This EP maybe only eight minutes long, but it feels like it drags on forever. The music is too simple, too unoriginal, and way too boring. When will bands like these learn that there's more to slam than just chugging like a fucking choo-choo train?
