ReverbNation Spotlight: Demons Damn

Demons? Damn!

But in all seriousness, Demons Damn is a brutal death metal band that hails from the citadel of slam, Bandung, Indonesia, and I'm digging what they've made here. Sure, their production may sound weak, especially in the impact of the drums, but the music is still good. The drums crank out the blast beats with ruthless efficiency. They also make sure to throw in plenty of double bass, fills, and great cymbal work to make things interesting. I especially like their performance on the song "Evil Inside".

The guitars sound like a mix of the Californian and Indonesian styles of brutal death metal. The low-tuned shredding and pinch harmonics remind me of bands like Condemned, the slamming riffs remind me of bands like Jasad, and the more fast-paced technical riffs on songs like "Dominasi Arogani" remind me of bands like Orestes. I especially liked the fast-paced technical riffs. They need to throw more of those into the music.

The only part of the music I felt needed improvement were the vocals. They consist of this hoarse growl that I can barely hear, as if he's pressing the microphone right up to this face. However, I really liked the raspy growls on "Dominasi Arogani". They sounded much clearer than on the rest of the songs. I guess that's because they recorded it during a different session. Aside from that, I really like the music they've made here. I also heard that they released their first full-length just last month. I'd love to get my hands on that.
