Geggar Otak is an Indonesian brutal death metal band that has been around since 1999, but due to financial problems, they didn't release anything until this year. That's fourteen years. Luckily, they used all that time to practice their craft.
The drums offer up a great number of blasts and fills that keep the music frantic and energetic. If you ask me, the best part of their performance is easily the guitars. They play a lot of sweet technical riffs that are heavily inspired by bands like Spawn of Possession and Obscura that manage to sound both melodic and infectious. They also make sure to throw in some pinch harmonics to appeal to the slam fiends. I also like the vocals. They consist of a growl that is hoarse and deep.
Sure, the production sounds kinda muffled and the snare drum sounds cheap, but I love these guys. I especially love the guitars. They even manage to throw in a few solos on occasion. I hope to hear more from these guys in the future.
