This edition of Bandcamp Roundup is special. I'm going to promote two bands that feature this cool dude I met on reddit.
Shaded Enmity
These guys play melodic death metal. Normally, I don't like melodic death metal - I'm more on the brutal side of the spectrum - but these guys are pretty good. The production is really powerful, the drums are really complex, offering up plenty of rapid double bass and intricate fills, the guitars offer up a lot of well-crafted riffs and plenty of whirling solos, and the pained screams and devious growls offer up a nice bit of variety. Also, some of the melodic riffs sort of remind me of Oskoreien. That's a big plus.
Omicron
These guys lie on the other side of the spectrum. They play raw, filthy grindcore that also throws in elements from death metal, thrash metal, and even a bit of black metal. The drums play lots of vigorous blast beats as well as plenty of complex fills and pounding mid-paced rhythms, the guitars play lots of simple, shredding riffs as well as some death metal chugs, thrash metal rhythms, and even a few discordant black metal riffs, and the vocals offer up large doses of both deep growls and angry hardcore screams. It's maniacal, destructive fury.
