Autopsia Mortal – Hora de tu Autopsia

Autopsia Mortal was a death metal band from Puerto Rico that released only two demos before splitting up. The first one was just a rehearsal demo. The other was called Hora de tu Autopsia. The latter was the only one I could find. I wish I didn't waste so much time looking for it, though, because let me tell you, it sucks.

Since this album is so short, I'll make this review a song-by-song. The first song consists of a clip from some horror movie. It contains a lot of ominous chanting so I guess they used this clip in an attempt to make themselves look epic or whatever, but it just makes them look pompous and foolish, as you will tell by the next few tracks.

The next track begins with some punkish sounding riffs that are tuned to death metal levels. Then come the drums, and oh my god they suck so bad. They sound unbelievably cheap, almost as if they used a child's first drum kit. At least it's nowhere near as bad as Me'ex. The bass is rather prominent, but it's badly played. The most prominent element is the growls, and they're nothing special. They don't do anything new or exciting.

The next track begins with some sort of slow punkish shit with lots of bass and slow drums beats. I think they played in this style in a desperate attempt to pad out the demo. Figures, because this song is the longest, clocking in at two minutes, forty-two seconds. Also, the guitar solo near the halfway point is godawful. It contains more fuckups than the Obama and Bush administrations combined. I don't think they ever bothered to rehearse.

The fourth track begins with even more prominent bass and really, really fucked up guitars. Did the guitarist perform on this track while drunk? Then the pace picks up, and it's mostly just bass and really sloppy blast beats. As for the outro, it consists of some really cheesy organs which sound like they came out of the cheapest casio keyboard they could find. It then comes to a close with the sound of a vault being shut. I have the strangest feeling that the band stole that sound effect from Deicide. It's just a hunch, but the similarity is almost uncanny.

So there you have it, folks. Another shitty early death metal band from a small Latin American country. The drums are bland, the growls are bland, there's way too much emphasis on the bass, they rely way too much on punkish song structures, and I'm pretty sure the guitarist is an alcoholic. I'm just glad they didn't release anything else, otherwise I'd be forced to torture myself even more by listening to it.
