Drutentus was one of many bands that released only one demo then split up. A shame too, because this demo is fantastic.
The guitars are pretty typical of black metal, but what I really love about them is the atmosphere they produce. It feels as though you're walking through the mystical forest of Pan. It harkens back to the glories of Greece's pagan past, before it was purged by christians. Unlike many black metal bands, Drutentus keeps to a mid-paced rhythm, and this enhances the atmosphere. Sometimes, the drums will do some blast beats and double bass, and they're handled really well. The vocals are the typical rasp, but they have a great deal of reverb and further enhance the atmosphere. He sounds like the angry forest spirits who rage against those who would dare to corrupt its majesty.
After a long journey through the magical forests of Pan, the albums is wrapped by a second song filled with solemn piano and symphonics. A really nice touch, I must say.
It's too bad that Drutentus never released anything else. They had a massive amount of potential.
