An Almanac is an annual publication that features information such as weather forecasts, planting dates, tide tables, and various astronomical data including solar and lunar eclipses, as well as festival dates, time lines, and much more. It's also the name of a lo-fi blackened punk band that resides in an undisclosed location in the United States. The band describes itself as “one-man lo-fi black metal tinged misanthropic punk”. Eh, that's good enough for me.
Since this EP is all of five minutes, there's not much to cover, so I'll try to pad this out as much as possible. They definitely live up to their blackened punk description, as these guys pack a lot of dark and violent nastiness into such a short amount of time. The drums blast relentlessly with a few slow parts in between to let the listener catch a breath. The vocals consist of heavily distorted rasps and screams that spew forth incomprehensible obscenities veiled in shadows. The guitars are equally distorted and quite loud, and they let forth a constant torrent of flesh-tearing riffs that also manage to exhibit a slight touch of melody.
If you want to listen to some blackened punk but don't have a lot of time on your hands, then this EP is for you. It's just five minutes long, but it's violent and insane and will leave you hurtin' the next morning.
