Dysphagia is an international brutal death metal band consisting of two guys from Italy and... Costa Rica. Oh boy. As I've pointed out many times before, Costa Rica has one of the worst metal scenes in the entire world. Knowing that one of the members is from Costa Rica does not give me high hopes.
The production is rather raw and muffled in some places, but that's to be expected with a DIY effort like this. The drumming is rather intricate at times, but mainly stick to blast beats and your typical slamming rhythms. The vocals consist of that deep inhaled growl that I'm not very fond of. It just sounds too much like a pig squeal to me. Just like the drums, the guitars are pretty typical, mainly sticking to chugging rhythms with some pinch harmonics and more complex riffs thrown into the mix on occasion, but they mainly retread the worn path. It's not horrible, but it's nothing to write home about.
Overall, it's nowhere near as bad as the other bands in the Costa Rica metal scene, but their music is just plain average. They don't bother to venture beyond that which is safe and easy. They don't bother to take risks. They just rehash what everyone else has done.
