Khorne – Resurrection

Khorne is the chaos god of blood and war. He is wrath incarnate, the embodiment of a never-ending lust to dominate and destroy. It's also the name of a newly-formed doom/death band from Pakistan. I know I said this before, but you got to have some serious balls to make metal in a country like Pakistan. The real question is, they have the courage, but do they have the skill? That's what really matters. Let's see what they got, shall we?

The first thing you need to know about this demo is that there are two songs and they both have major differences in production quality. The first song sounds quite clear while the second song sounds rather muffled. I guess they recorded the second song before they recorded the first. Despite the inconsistent production, the music is still great.

The drums keep a slow and steady beat just like most other doom/death bands, but the snare has a great deal of impact which helps the music feel more powerful. There are also times when they play double bass that reminds me of As The Sea Parts. The vocals consist of a raspy growl which sounds like a harsher Chuck Schuldiner. There are also times when they perform a very black metal rasp that helps to give the music a bit more diversity.

Best of all are the guitars. They play your standard slow doom/death riffs, but they also play these powerful melodic riffs that ring out like the cries of a fallen angel. This especially rings true on the second song. I love it when bands put in that extra effort. It means they really care about their work.

Sure, the production maybe inconsistent, but the music is awesome, and that's all that matters. Terminal Death had worse production than this, yet I still love their work. This demo is available as a free download on the band's official Bandcamp page, so be sure to go there and pledge your support.
