Necrolatry (US) – Dead and Buried

I listened to the Polish Necrolatry. They weren't very good. Perhaps the American Necrolatry will be better.

After a long and pointless intro, we are presented with death metal that sounds good at first, but gets repetitive very quickly. The drums mainly play mid-paced rhythms that feature a bit of double bass, with some blast beats sprinkled in between. He also performs lots of great, complex fills. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to offer up a lot of variety, which means his performance gets stale in just a few minutes. The guitars are the same way. They perform lots of shredding riffs as well as plenty of mid-paced chugging riffs. They also play a couple of solos that scream and howl with demonic fervor. Unfortunately, as with the drums, they don't offer up a lot of variety, which means they end up becoming really repetitive.

Worst of all are the vocals. They mainly consist of a low growl that sounds similar to Cannibal Corpse. Personally, I can't help but get the feeling that he wasn't really putting a lot of effort into his performance. As with the guitars and the drums, the vocals have very little variety and get old rather quickly. Well, there is a tiny bit of variety. Once in a while, they'll perform this pitch-shifted growl that sounds like shit.

So there you have it. They start off nice, but then they get old really fast. They're still not the worst thing ever, though. In fact, they aren't really bad so much as they are boring. This certainly isn't helped by the fact that this demo is forty-one minutes long.
